5 Ways to Decorate Your Pool Deck for the Holidays

The holidays are rapidly approaching and for many, that means thick sweaters and shoveling snow. For those of us lucky enough to live in San Antonio, though, it means hosting fantastic outdoor get-togethers with friends and family. Just because the snow isn’t piling up doesn’t mean you can’t have a festive home to ring in the holidays!

If you’ve just remodeled your deck or have a cabana that you’d like to show off, here are five easy ways from our pools San Antonio specialists to decorate your pool area for the upcoming holidays:

1. Use Lights to Decorate Your Deck or Cabana

Nothing says “Happy Holidays!” like an abundance of twinkling lights enveloping your deck or hanging from your cabana. Stick with no more than two or three colors to create a warm and inviting ambiance. If you want some depth, consider chaser lights or intermittent pulsing lights. Thick ropes of plain white lights festooning railings and porticos can add a level of sophisticated winter wonderland to even the balmiest of weather. Remember that swimming pool led bulbs can be a great option!

2. Add Seasonal Flower Decorations

Deck decorating doesn’t have to be all about the bling. Using an abundance of beautiful greenery in the form of swags and garlands to line railings and edges can bring a truly beautiful and seasonal flair to your pool area. Consider topiaries in place of Christmas trees, or place red and white geraniums in decorative pots around the deck to add some color and life amongst the other decorations.

3. Tie a Tablecloth or Garland to Your Bar

If you enjoy outdoor entertaining, consider dressing up your bar area for a festive holiday feel. Drape a silver or gold tablecloth around the front and sides of your bar, and then secure them in place. Add garlands and snowflake decorations for a truly royal presentation. Strategically place stacks of festive napkins and bar snacks on either end for an even more inviting feel.

4. LED Lights or Floating Candles for Your Pool

For an enchanting evening, set floating candles on the water in your pool. If you prefer to not deal with wax clean-up, look for LED candles that will fit into floating candle holders. Float plastic silver ball decorations in the water for glint and glimmer, emulating the look of the moonlight catching on snowflakes.

5. Add a Gift Table to Your Cabana

You have the gorgeous weather, so why not celebrate the holidays outdoors? Set up a table on your cabana or on your pool deck and give it your best holiday decorating treatment. Cover with a seasonal tablecloth and tie back around the table’s legs with large bows. Place a non-breakable centerpiece and arrange gifts on the table. Surround with outdoor seating so that family and friends can gather for the much-anticipated gift exchange!

Regardless of your decorating style, you can have an incredibly inviting and festive pool deck with a little creativity. And if you need help getting your pool or deck cleaned for an outdoor holiday party, feel free to contact us here at Sanchez Pools!
